Open House + Reception

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who is part of George Gabin’s – Student Retrospective Fundraiser. Over the past week we’ve collected a total of 65 pieces of original artwork and creative from over 50 exceptionally talented artists. The show has been hung with care and you’ll leave awestruck thanks to the talents of Debra Olin and Greg Kitterle.

Sunday, December 4th is the last day of the show which is an initiative and fundraiser to celebrate a master, a mentor and a friend to many. The show/Open House opens at 12:00pm and the Reception will begin at 2:00pm where the culinary talents of Crystal Paris Brown will be revealed. Although the show ends at 5:00pm I hope to extend the offerings online by posting all the work with additional details to follow.

We hope to have George downstairs to the Gallery between the times of 3:00 – 3:30pm. Please try to be punctual and relax with refreshments and fantastic finger foods that will be available at your leisure. I’ve also created a looping slideshow of images paced with music that will give you a sneak preview to George’s show in February at the Chase Young Gallery. Next to the slideshow will be a book to write something special that you’d like to share with George.

If you were able to contribute to the show please try to be present when the reception closes at 5:00pm so you can depart with your artwork if it hasn’t sold. If you can’t be present I’ll store the artwork at my home until we can arrange a day/time to get together.

Thank you again and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the show.

Sincerely,

Michael.

The featured image is from contributing artist Gail Wartell and is titled “At The Surface” which is a 12″x16″ Acrylic painting that you can see in person on December 2, 3, 4.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the drop off days this weekend to contribute your time and artwork. We had a great turnout and the walls at the Brickbottom Gallery will be filled with exceptional work. The fundraising exhibition opens this weekend so please tell family + friends + students & alumni of Montserrat College of Art + members of the Brickbottom Artist Association. The Open House is December 4th and there will be a reception from 2:00 – 5:00pm with small refreshments available. I will followup with another posting when I can try to secure an accurate time that George will be able to attend the reception.

For those of you who contributed your work thank you again and please try to be present at the close of the exhibition on December 4th at 5:00pm so you can leave with your work in hand if it doesn’t sell. If you can’t be present I will take your art with me to store in my home until we can arrange a day/time to pickup your work.

Have a great week and I’ll look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Sincerely,

Michael Pratt.

George Gabin - Student Retrospective | 2011

Brickbottom Gallery – December 2, 3, 4 | Open House December 4, 2011 12:00 – 5:00pm.

Happy Thanksgiving! I would like to take this time to let everyone know that this is the last call for artwork for the show at the Brickbottom Gallery and we have a lot of space to fill. I will be at the gallery this coming Saturday and Sunday (November 26 + 27) from 12:00pm – 2:00pm to collect and store the art for the show. Whether you’re attending the Open House or intend to display a piece of art please send me an email letting me know. I will need a headcount to properly prepare the space to hang the show and I’ll also need to send you a Loan Agreement form to fill out. Knowing the amount of attendees will also help with organizing refreshments for the Open House on December 4th. Below is a brief description + all the links and content you need to participate and stay informed. Thank you.

Happy Holidays! The Brickbottom Gallery will be having a special weekend retrospective of students work to celebrate a special man, a passionate painter, a great teacher and a dedicated mentor, George Gabin. The goal is to reunite students and alumni who know George and to have an opportunity to display a piece of your work that beautifully captures your creative abilities. The show will be a fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds going toward materials for George’s show at the Chase Young Gallery opening in February 2012. A catalog for the show is currently being designed and will be available soon.

Drop off dates for the show will be at the Brickbottom Gallery on Saturday November 26th & Sunday November 27th from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. There will be a small label for you to fill out indicating your name, city + state, title of your work, price to purchase and year you went to Montserrat (optional). We will need assistance gathering the work and hanging the show so if we can get a few more bodies to help out during the hanging + drop off dates to make sure the work is stored properly with the form/label completed it would be helpful.

Please send me a personal email if you intend to display a piece of work and/or attend the Open House. Without the artwork to fill the gallery the Open House won’t be possible and a headcount will help with refreshments. A small photo/JPEG would also be helpful so we can layout the gallery properly.
